Message from the Director
It is with immense pride and a profound sense of responsibility that I welcome you to the Centre for Climate, Society, and Environment (CCSE) at Jagannath University. As Director of this visionary initiative, I am honored to lead a multidisciplinary team committed to addressing one of the most urgent challenges of our time—climate change and its wide-ranging impacts on society and the environment.
Like many nations, Bangladesh stands at a pivotal moment, where the consequences of climate change threaten to reverse decades of development progress. The CCSE was founded to bridge the gap between knowledge and action, fostering interdisciplinary research, collaboration, and policy advocacy to build resilience and drive sustainable solutions. Our mission is grounded in the principles of climate justice, equity, and evidence-based decision-making, ensuring that the voices of the most vulnerable are heard in both local and global conversations.
At CCSE, we believe that addressing climate change requires a holistic and inclusive approach. By integrating climate science with the social sciences, economics, and policy studies, we strive to develop innovative, actionable strategies that are both scientifically sound and socially just. Our wide-ranging activities—including cutting-edge research, capacity-building programs, policy advocacy, and international partnerships—demonstrate our commitment to making a meaningful impact.
I warmly invite researchers, policymakers, students, and stakeholders to join us in this vital mission. Together, we can deepen understanding, shape policy, and empower communities to navigate the complexities of a changing climate. Let us unite in our pursuit of a sustainable and resilient future for Bangladesh—and for the world.
With warm regards,
Associate Professor Md. Abdul Malak, PhD
